NEW YORK, NY – May 9, 2014 – Baruch College is being applauded as one of the nation’s “50 Most Affordable Colleges with the Best Return” by the online resource AffordableSchools.net.
Baruch College was ranked #48 based on the college’s annual cost of tuition for the 2013-14 academic year and the expected income of bachelor’s degree recipients (in 2013 dollars). Colleges in this ranking were recognized for “keeping the cost of tuition down with a promise of a high income after graduation.”
AffordableSchools.net is a leading higher education resource, helping adults of all ages and backgrounds obtain a high quality education while avoiding huge college costs and in many cases huge college debt, which can hover over their lives for years. The online source was established to help students make smart higher education choices.
For their Methodology, AffordableSchools.net used the following criterion to measure affordability: it defines an affordable college as one that charges no more than the average in-state tuition for a public college or university. As of 2014, that average is under $15,000, which was the cutoff amount for this ranking. Note that tuitions of private colleges and universities readily exceed $30,000 a year, with some even approaching $50,000. Criterion for return on investment looks at starting and mid-career salary, and then estimates total income over 15 years from the time of graduation. AffordableSchools.net also considered rankings administered by PayScale.com.
