Michael Evangelou, an IT Assistant at Guttman Community College, was awarded the CUNY Excellence in Service Award at this year’s CUNY IT Conference on December 4.
Michael was the driving force behind the College’s new computer rollout and imaging project in 2014 and managed the many computer moves and rollouts at the beginning of the Fall 2014 semester. His leadership and technical expertise ensured the project was completed in a timely manner. His commitment to excellence was also demonstrated when the college purchased 120 new laptops at the beginning of the fall semester to be made available to students as soon as possible. An accomplished photographer, one of Michael’s photos from an assignment for the media services division was selected for the back cover of the College’s inaugural commencement program.
“Michael has shown great growth within the IT department over the past year. He has taken on the demands of our newly formed media services division, demonstrated great leadership qualities mentoring our student interns, and took it upon himself to help improve the IT ticketing system by systematically categorizing all tickets. Always willing to stay until the job is complete, Michael is an exemplary member of the team whom we can always trust to get the job done, and get it done well,” commented John Stroud, Guttman’s CIO.
