Learned Behaviors Opens at the New Media Artspace at Baruch College

NEW YORK, NY December 9, 2015 –  Baruch College presents Learned Behaviors, a capstone exhibition of the New Media Arts Minor. Curated by student artists Sarafina Charlier, Lillian Cheng, Ashley Gilbert, Stuart Klein, Michael Kwan, Chenelle Lloyd, Mai Matsumoto, Daniel Perez, and Darshanie Sukhram, Learned Behaviors presents a diverse collection of new media artworks using video, animation, sound, and photography. This exhibit seeks to explore how we experience our lives through emotions, leading to filtered perceptions and programmed reactions. Each floor of the exhibition portrays a different theme from Learned Behaviors, including Emotions, Society, Introspection, and Expectations.

The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will run from December 14, 2015 to February 3, 2016 at the New Media Artspace at 151 E. 25th Street. An opening reception and informal discussion with the student artists will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. in the New Media Artspace and room 320 of the Newman Library and Information Building.

The artists completed their work under the supervision of Katherine Behar, Assistant Professor of New Media Arts at Baruch College. This capstone exhibition represents their conclusion of Baruch’s undergraduate minor in New Media Arts.

The New Media Artspace is a teaching exhibition space in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Baruch College, CUNY. Housed in the Newman Library, the New Media Artspace showcases curated experimental media and interdisciplinary artworks by international artists, students, alumni, and faculty.
