Engineering major George Basaly wins WISE fellowship

George Basaly, a senior in The City College of New York’s Grove School of Engineering, is the recipient of a 2016 WISE fellowship for outstanding undergraduates. Its goal is to prepare future leaders of the engineering profession in the United States.

A chemical engineering major with minors in mathematics and economics, Basaly will spend nine weeks in Washington, D.C., this summer developing a public policy sponsored by AIChE.  He hopes to combine his interests in engineering, finance and technology to pursue a policy related to the advancement of green energy storage.

“This fellowship will give me the opportunity to finally pursue my passion in applying in chemical engineering as it applies to public policy,” he said. “I am honored to be chosen by AIChE for this prestigious program.”

After the WISE internship Basaly will embark on a career at Cognizant as a technology and business solutions analyst, combining his passion for intersecting technology and business. He has previously interned at SkyBridge Capital and MBS Value Partners.
