Baruch College Performing Arts Center Presents “Immersive Worlds: Science, Narrative, and the Arts”

Free Daylong Event Brings Together Scientists, Business People, Artists, and Thoughtleaders—Features the Neurodome, Virtual Tour of the Brain

 Neurodome – an interactive exhibit and virtual tour of the human brain

 

NEW YORK, NY March 23, 2016 – “Immersive Worlds: Science, Narrative, and the Arts” – a free full-day conference and exhibit exploring the impact of immersive technologies across multiple disciplines including advertising, data, arts, education, science, and journalism – will be held at the Baruch Performing Arts Center (BPAC) on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 11:30 am-7:30 pm.  Dive into a dynamic day on immersive technologies and learn how they are changing the way we play, create, consume news, enjoy art, sell products, and understand the world. Presented by BPAC, this event is free and open to the public.

Thought leaders from NYU, The New School, Columbia, Baruch College, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and more will joins the expert panel discussions. The Neurodome – an interactive exhibit and virtual tour of the human brain – lets you to explore 3-D, multi-sensory and virtual art firsthand.

Lance Weiler, named by WIRED magazine as “one of 25 people helping to re-invent entertainment” will serve as keynote speaker. Other panelists include Aina Abiodun, immersive media creator and co-founder of StoryCode; Beat Baudenbacher, chief creative officer, LoyalKaspar; David Carroll, associate professor, Parsons School of Design; Jonathan Fisher, sensory neuroscientist, New York Medical College; Ben Chang, VR artist, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Ken Perlin, computer scientist, NYU; Marie Clapot, Museum Educator for Access and Community Programs, Metropolitan Museum of Art; Ezgi Ucar, Creative Technologist; Kevin Cunningham, immersive and interactive designer. Dr. David Gruber, associate professor of biology & environmental science at Baruch College, will moderate one of the panels
