Tom Robbins Named a Pulitzer Prize Finalist for Series on Prison Violence

A series on violence in New York prisons by Tom Robbins, investigative journalist in residence at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, was a 2016 Pulitzer Prize finalist in the category of Investigative Reporting.

Produced in collaboration with the Marshall Project and The New York Times, the series included stories by Times reporters Michael Winerip and Michael Schwirtz.

It also won the 2016 Hillman Prize for Newspaper Journalism, given by the The Sidney Hillman Foundation to showcase excellent social justice reporting.

Robbins joined the CUNY J-School in Feb. 2011. In addition to helping students with their investigative stories, he manages the Urban Reporting Grants Program.
