Students from Kingsborough Community College and Queensborough Community College will have the opportunity to compete for over $15K in prize money when they pitch their innovative ideas at the CUNY & Capital One Community College Innovation Challenge on May 26, 2016. The event, a day of free activities around entrepreneurship, includes a motivating keynote from entrepreneur Rahfeal Gordon and a workshop on design thinking (how to empathize with customers when designing products and services). Design Thinking workshop: Design thinking is using empathy and customer interviews to design products and services (such as curricula). It is very much a tenent of lean startups and somewhat of the maker movement. The workshop will be led by Larry Liu (CEO, http://pomegranatelab.com/about-us ). It will provide a framework for faculty, staff and students to incorporate entrepreneurial design thinking into courses, extracurricular activities and student clubs.
