Iconic Star Tony Danza Brings His Irresistible Charm and New Cabaret Act Standards & Stories to QPAC on September 18

Following a debut run at the Carlyle Hotel in New York City, television, movie and Broadway star Tony Danza will bring his cabaret act, Standards & Stories, to Queensborough’s Performing Arts Center (QPAC) on September 18, 2016 at 3:00pm. Backed by a live band, Standards & Stories combines music with storytelling and features a selection of timeless hits from the Great American Songbook, as well as numbers from his recent Broadway return in Honeymoon in Vegas.

Perhaps best known for legendary starring roles on two of televisions’ most cherished and long-running series, Taxi and Who’s the Boss, Danza received an Emmy nomination for a guest-starring role in The Practice (1997). He also starred in the comedy series Hudson Street (1995) and The Tony Danza Show (1997), for which he was executive producer. Other television credits include an acclaimed performance opposite George C. Scott and Jack Lemmon in the remake of the film classic 12 Angry Men (1997) and the television movies The Garbage Picking Field Goal Kicking Philadelphia Phenomenon (1998), Noah (1998), The Girl Gets Moe (1997), North Shore Fish (1997) and Deadly Whispers (1995).

Danza has also established himself as a Broadway star, most recently receiving rave reviews for his performance in the smash hit Honeymoon in Vegas at the Paper Mill Playhouse, with The New York Times calling him a “sly genius,” and his performance a “career high”. For his theatrical debut in Wrong Turn at Lungfish (1993), he earned an Outer Critic’s Circle Award nomination. He also starred on Broadway in The Producers, A View from the Bridge and The Iceman Cometh, opposite Kevin Spacey.

Among his motion picture credits are Angels in the Outfield (1994), She’s out of Control (1989), A Brooklyn State of Mind (1998), Glam (1997) and Illtown (1996). He also wrote, directed and starred in the short film Mamamia (1998).

“Like Mr. Danza’s outstanding and dazzling career, this show will be a smash hit with audiences who will be swept away by his many talents,” said Susan Agin, Executive Artistic Director of QPAC. “He truly is the BOSS!”
