Charles Evans Inniss, 61, a Trustee of The City University of New York since his appointment by the Governor in 1992, and a retired Vice President of Urban Affairs of Brooklyn Union, died on January 30 after a long illness.

Chancellor W. Ann Reynolds testified before the Fiscal Committees of the New York State Legislature today that proposed cuts in State aid for The City University of New York, coupled with a recommended $400 tuition increase and cutbacks planned for the State’s Tuition Assistance Program TAP), could result in as many as 12,000 students not being able to continue their studies at CUNY.

The City University of New York is participating in New York State’s “Financial Aid Awareness Month” throughout January. Financial aid officers on all 20 CUNY campuses are prepared to provide information for prospective college students and their parents. January is the month when students should begin applying for federal, state and campus-based financial aid for the 1997-98 academic year.
