Medgar Evers College (MEC) will offer free Summer Session II courses, which begin July 7 through August 7, for students pursuing Associate degree programs in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) areas or for all students and majors who need to complete courses in the core areas: Math and Quantitative Reasoning, Life and Physical Science and the Scientific World.
Today, we commemorate the life of Medgar Wiley Evers (July 2, 1925 – June 12, 1963), who was brutally murdered on this day in 1963. Known for his courageous struggles for civil and human rights in Mississippi, Medgar left behind an impressive record of achievement. He was a civil rights activist committed to ensuring that blacks had their right to vote protected, that children and young people could attend integrated schools and colleges and that federal laws were upheld in the South.
