The Invest in CUNY Campaign Office is hosting a year-long series of seminars to help CUNY colleges get in compliance with state Charity Registration laws everywhere that they solicit donations.
Several colleges have hosted seminars or informational gatherings to help spotlight and roll out the new CGA program. So far, presentations to donors, alumni and faculty have been made at CSI, The Graduate Center and BMCC; John Jay is planned for November. Other colleges are planning similar gatherings for the winter and spring.
The programs will be led by Future Funds and Tony Martignetti, author of Charity Registration: State-by-State Guidelines for Compliance. Our goal is to cover the most important states by the end of the series. This includes New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, California, Florida, Arizona, District of Columbia, Illinois and Texas. The best person to attend from your college is the one who will be responsible for this work. We recommend the same person attend all the sessions.
The next two sessions are scheduled for November 17 and December 17, 2010. The November 17 session will cover New York and New Jersey registrations.
