Take the New Media Business Challenge — $1,000 Prize

Announcing a $1,000 challenge for CUNY undergraduate and graduate students in any discipline: The 2009 CUNY Award for Best New Media Business Plan. Design a hard-headed business plan to launch a profitable, self-sustaining New Media organization that can deliver quality journalism and support a news-gathering operation. The goal is meet the critical challenges posed by the new media – from the Internet to blogs – that are revolutionizing journalism while threatening economic support for the journalistic craft. Marketing and tech- savvy students are especially encouraged to compete. Deadline for submissions is Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009. The business plan award will be presented at CUNY’s Journalism, Broadcast and New Media Conference on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at the University Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Ave., at 34th Street, Manhattan.
