CUNY MARKETING INTERNSHIPS AT THE ECONOMIST

has partnered with The City University of New York to launch the first-ever internship program at The Economist (North America). Marketing internships will be open to highly qualified CUNY students who will be rewarded with an in-depth opportunity to learn about journalism and the business of magazine publishing; academic credit and an hourly salary. Internships will last six to eight weeks and require a 25 to 35 hour a week commitment.

REQUIREMENTS FOR MARKETING INTERNSHIPS
-Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.2
-Major in Marketing or related area.
-Writing samples.
-Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and additional Internet and business software.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Experience working effectively in teams and the ability to work independently.
-Multi-tasking abilities.

INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
-Assisting Sales Account Managers with day to day services including client relations, research and meeting presentation.
-Development of client proposals and pitch materials, sell sheets and marketing materials.
-Monitoring competitive sets in print and online and track/distribute notes.
-Organize and maintain sales and marketing materials on a rolling basis.
-Event planning.
-Assemble media kits, presentations and sales tools.
-Participate in brainstorming sessions and sales meetings.
-Reporting, writing, research and other associated tasks.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
-Two writing samples.
-Resume
-Letter of interest.
-Official copy of college transcript.

Ideal candidates will be able to offer critical and creative thinking skills. They will also possess a strong work ethic and be highly organized and responsible. Candidates will also have and maintain a professional image. Students with high enthusiasm for marketing, previous internships, and office work experience are especially welcome.
