The Zazoom Internship Program provides a unique opportunity for eligible college students to gain hands on experience in the development, production and post-production of dynamic short form news for the web and other digital platforms (see www.buzz60.com). This internship offers valuable work experience for students who are pursuing a career in the news and communications industries and who want to learn from successful professionals in those industries. Zazoom (www.zazoomvideo.com) is a young, growing company so the ability to multi-task, to work well under deadlines and a great attitude are all necessary. </p>
<p><strong>ABOUT ZAZOOM</strong>Zazoom was founded by three highly respected TV journalists who worked at the networks and at local New York news stations for many years. During those careers, they won an aggregate 40 Emmys; several Edward R. Murrow awards, and the Walter Cronkite award, among others. The company produces and distributes short-form stories ranging from breaking news, pop culture, entertainment, lifestyle and sports. </p>
<p><strong>ASSIGNMENTS, HOURS, LOCATION</strong>Assignments are based on departmental needs, students&#8217; interests and positions available. The average workload for interns varies between 16-32 hours per week. During those hours, interns will be exposed to the standard professional methods of developing stories, research, writing, image selection, presentation and video editing, as well as social network strategies. Interns work primarily out of the Zazoom newsroom/studio in the historic Broadway-Chambers landmark building at 277 Broadway in New York City.</p>
<p>While this is an unpaid internship, the company may provide interns with monthly, unlimited use NYC Transit Metro Cards during the program.</p>
<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong>Candidates for internships must be:<br />
1) Enrolled in an accredited associate or bachelor degree program<br />
2) In good academic standing<br />
3) Able to receive academic credit for the internship</p>

<p>The Features Department, serving The Record and the Herald News, has an opening for a full-time, entry-level reporter.<br />
This reporter will produce engaging stories that explore a variety of topics, but generally concentrate on how North Jersey residents live, shop and entertain themselves.<br />
In general, the reporters must initiate, research, report, interview and write news features on their beat and generate trend stories. The skills and experience required for this position include: Ability to write stories, especially feature stories where tone and language are key components. The ability to write critically and in an engaging manner is essential.  Ability to identify stories that have the greatest potential to engage readers in North Jersey.  Ability to work with the Features’ department senior management in formulating strategies to capture readers and the ability to carry that strategy out. </p>
<p> The successful candidate must have at least two years of daily newspaper reporting experience, or equivalent. Hours may vary and may include working occasional weekends as part of a schedule rotation.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>CUNY/CBS TV Boot Camp is a special City University of New York edition of &#8220;60 Minute&#8221; that offers students real-life experience producing broadcast-quality news magazine pieces. Created in 2001 by CBS News Senior Editor Warren Lustig, a Brooklyn College and CUNY Baccalaureate degree alumnus, Boot Camp gives teams of CUNY students the opportunity to initiate compelling newscasts using facilities at their respective schools. </p>
<p>The course includes rigorous critiques from CBS News producers and executives. Students are responsible for their own research, planning, videotaping, writing and editing. Students gain priceless experience, the kind many professionals take years to attain. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>INTERNS SUMMER 2011</strong><br />
<strong>Deadline:</strong> November 15, 2010</p>
<p>Paid internships for 12 weeks in news, features, sports, graphics, copy desk and photo departments. May work weekends; car is necessary.</p>
<p><strong>Eligibility:</strong> Undergraduates/graduate students with at least one daily print internship or strong college newspaper experience, preferably as a top editor. </p>
<p>Application packages must include a cover letter, resume, five story or copy editing clips, the names and phone numbers of three references and a 500-word essay: <em></em><em>Why I Want to be a Print Journalist. </em><br />
Clips must be on 8 ½ by 11-inch paper only; CDs preferred for graphic and photography candidates. </p>
