June 25, 2009
A group of alums, students, faculty, staff, and other supporters gathered at the Water’s Edge in Long Island City to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of CUNY School of Law on June 23, 2009. “Honoring the Past and Building the Future” was the evening’s theme.
Dean Michelle J. Anderson introduced the many distinguished guests in attendance, including the Hon. Seymour Boyers and Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, two of the Law School’s founders, and the Hon. Kristen Booth Glen, the Law School’s third dean. City Council Member Tony Avella presented CUNY Law with a proclamation in honor of its 25th birthday and City Council Member David Weprin presented the School with a citation for public interest contributions to the community.
Guests enjoyed an inspirational address by founding faculty member Professor Victor Goode, who spoke about the birth and development of the Law School through adolescence and into adulthood. CUNY Law 2009 graduates Ali Najmi, Samantha Thomas, and Tony Tate spoke to guests about what the School meant to them and their hopes for building the future. Alums and community members enjoyed the chance to visit with one another and catch up with favorite professors. Thanks to all those in the community who supported this event and helped make it a great success.
