Professor Jenny Rivera, Director of CUNY Law’s Center on Latino and Latina Rights and Equality (CLORE), is one of sixty four newly elected members to the American Law Institute. The American Law Institute is “the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and otherwise improve the law.”
Professor Rivera has also been named to a new American Bar Association Presidential Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights & Responsibilities. She will serve as the Commission’s Reporter for the regional hearings that will be held to identify the legal issues affecting Latinos around the country. A follow-up report distilling the findings from the hearings will serve as a guidepost to state and federal legislators, government agencies and local and national organizations.
