Jaclyn Sheltry (’13) and Leila Shifteh (’13) have been awarded the Joseph Doherty Civil Rights Fellowship for 2011. This annual fellowship offered by the Irish Law Students Association (ILSA) at CUNY Law assists students whose interests lie in civil rights in the United States and abroad.

Jaclyn is interning with AkiDwA, a non-governmental organization (NGO) in Dublin, Ireland, that works with African migrant women living in Ireland. Leila is in Turkey, interning with an NGO that provides policy recommendations, as well as legal services to refugees and asylum seekers in their interviews with the United Nations.
