Prof. Bratspies Assists on Amicus Brief on International Environmental Case

Professor Rebecca Bratspies, whose research focuses on environmental and public international law, helped write an amicus brief that a group of international law professors submitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit regarding Chevron v. Donziger. The case is related to the judgment handed down by the Ecuadorian court against Chevron for dumping billions of gallons of toxic waste into the lands and waterways of the Amazon. The brief supports the right of the victorious Ecuadorian plaintiffs to enforce their judgment and it takes issue with Judge Lewis Kaplan’s assertion of universal jurisdiction.
