Professor Steve Zeidman was quoted in a Reuters story about how the ticket-fixing scandal in the New York Police Department could affect witness credibility at trial. According to the article, defense attorneys are beginning to request more information from the district attorney’s office about witnesses, including police officers, to determine witness credibility. If there is evidence that a police officer was involved in the ticket-fixing, then that could impact the officer’s credibility. “What could do more to convince a juror about the truthfulness of this officer?” Prof. Zeidman said.
Prof. Zeidman is the director of CUNY Law’s Criminal Defense Clinic. He is a highly-respected trial lawyer and former supervisor at the Legal Aid Society.
