CUNY Law’s Office of Academic Affairs and the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) recently brought James Bell, founder and executive director of the W. Haywood Burns Institute, to speak to the Law School community about “The Law as a Tool for Social Justice: Challenges for the 21st Century.” His presentation described the work of the institute and the legacy of the late CUNY Law Professor Haywood Burns. While here he also discussed opportunities for engaging communities in social change, particularly underserved communities of color.
