Students Discuss Human Rights with UN Official

Students from Prof. Susan Bazilli’s International Human Rights Law class and members of the CUNY International Law Society recently met with Ivan ┼áimonovic’, assistant secretary-general for human rights and head of the New York Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). ┼áimonovic’ briefed students about human rights and international law and answered questions about UN treaty bodies, practical and political concerns of the High Commissioner’s Office, and career prospects in human rights. The briefing was held at the United Nations and coincided with the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.
