Distinguished Prof. Robson on First Amendment in Death Threat Case

Distinguished professor and constitutional law expert Ruthann Robson weighs in on ABC.com on the parameters of free speech in a case centering on threats made online between classmates.

Three girls in a middle school in Indiana were expelled after discussing on Facebook which of their classmates they would kill and how.

“When disciplining students for speech that happens outside of school, schools can be on some shaky constitutional ground under the First Amendment,” Robson said.

Prof. Robson teaches in the areas of constitutional law, family law, feminist legal theory, and sexuality and the law.
