PBS Features Mae Watson Grote (’99) on Improving the Financial Security of the Working Poor

Alum Mae Watson Grote (’99) spoke on a segment of PBS’s Need to Know about the work of the nonproft organization she founded, The Financial Clinic. Grote discussed how the Clinic’s financial coaches work with their clients to create a budget to map out their situation and achieve financial goals. Grote believes the work of The Financial Clinic can help “contribute to a larger national discourse on what it means to be working poor.”

The Financial Clinic helps working poor families and individuals address their immediate financial needs and helps them create long-term goals. It offers access to tax preparation and legal assistance on bankruptcy, foreclosure, and consumer law. It also provides guidance on budgeting and offers one-on-one financial coaching to help set goals.
