Constitutional Law Prof Blog Features Students’ Discussions of DOMA Case Amicus Briefs

The U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments next week in the case challenging the constituationality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). This week, leading up to those arguments, four CUNY Law students examine, in guest posts for the Constitutional Law Prof Blog, a few of the amicus briefs that have been submitted.

  • Meghan McLoughlin (’14) takes a look at the brief of Senators Orrin G. Hatch et. al in support of respondent BLAG.
  • Anetta Sookhdeo (’14) discusses the brief of the Scholars of the Constitutional Rights of Children in support of Windsor.
  • Versely Rosales (’14) examines¬† the brief of the National Association of Evangelicals; The Ethics¬† & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention; The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod; The Romanian-American Evangelical Alliance of North America; and Truth in Action Ministries in support of BLAG.
  • Allison Reddy (’14) reviews the brief of the CATO Institute and the Constitutional Accountability Center in support of Windsor.

These students are all a part of Professor Andrea McArdle‘s Judicial Writing Seminar.
