Prof. Borgmann on Trial of Philadelphia Abortion Doctor

May 13, 2013

USA Today spoke with Professor Caitlin Borgmann about the conviction of Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell on first-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter charges.  Gosnell was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of three fetuses that were born alive and involuntary manslaughter in the death of a patient who was given an overdose of Demerol. Both supporters and opponents of abortion rights view the verdict as a victory and see the trial itself as more important than the verdict. “I’m not sure the verdict changes much about how the public views Gosnell, and what he means to the abortion issue,” said Borgmann.
