As more states pass increasingly stricter abortion laws, experts on reproductive-rights policy say to expect to see more challenges to those state limits. Professor Caitlin Borgmann appeared on Minnesota Public Radio’s The Daily Circuit program to discuss how the increased restrictions states are putting on abortion clinics will ultimately come to a point where they begin placing an undue burden on women’s access to abortion, which violates the law upheld in Planned Parenthood v. Casey. “Restrictions are becoming so onerous that they are endangering access to abortion,” said Borgmann. “I think that we have to remember that these restrictions are not about safety, they’re about making abortions unavailable.”
Professor Borgmann has litigated reproductive rights cases and has also spoken and written widely about reproductive rights and given testimony before several state legislatures on this issue. She is the editor of the Reproductive Rights Blog.
