At the Puerto Rican Bar Association’s upcoming annual Women’s History Month Reception, a CUNY Law professor and two CUNY Law students will be recognized.
Professor Natalie Gomez-Velez will receive one of PRBA’s Flor de Maga Awards, which recognizes exceptional Latinas in the community. Gomez-Velez currently serves on New York’s Statewide Judicial Screening Committee and on the Committee on Non-Lawyers and the Justice Gap appointed by New York Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman. She also serves as a Trustee of the City Parks Foundation and as Chair of its Education Committee.
Special recognition will be given to CUNY Law students Celina Caban (’14) and Jill Westerberg (’15), who have named as rising stars. Caban is currently a Ms. JD Fellow and the special events editor for the CUNY Law Review. Westerberg is currently the vice president of CUNY Law’s Latin American Law Students Association.
