The York College Library provides extensive resources and services to meet the special needs of its clientele and visiting scholars. Many researchers, journalists and scholars have made special trips to the library over the years to access its unique newspaper resources.

In October 2009, Burak Çaliskan, an Instructor from the Afyon Kocatepe University’s Faculty of Education, visited the Library’s microfilm center. He was directed to York College by the Library of Congress, where he was doing his research, to obtain 1918 issues from The San Francisco Examiner. After making copies of the articles and photographic images of the newspaper pages, Professor Çaliskan, commended the Library on its unique collection and the staff for their efficient and generous services.

York College’s exceptional maintenance of its newspaper collection positions the Library to provide services to its clientele and visitors as few libraries can. Its world-class newspaper microfilm collection contains local, national and international titles, covering over a century of journalism, and is well known to libraries and researchers.
