Elizabeth Soriano (D) represented District 20 sitting in the seat of New York State Senator Eric Adams. Elizabeth who was born in the Dominican Republic and migrated to the United States in 2004 had limited exposure to the English language prior to arriving at Hostos, but has worked diligently to become a Phi Theta Kappa Member Honors Society Member, a Hostos Student Ambassador and a participant in the Hostos Summer Honors Institute. Elizabeth is also Hostos’ first representative as a CUNY Leadership Academy Fellow, a program of which she is a 2009 graduate. She is currently studying Psychology at The City College of New York. (Elizabeth won a five hundred dollar award for an essay that she wrote about her position in the debate.)
