Gov. Andrew Cuomo approved creation of The New Community College – CUNY’s seventh community college and the University’s first new college in more than four decades – in a Sept. 20 letter to Education Commissioner John B. King Jr., Chancellor Matthew Goldstein has announced.
At its quarterly meeting held in New York on June 9, 2011, Carnegie Corporation of New York’s Board of Trustees approved 36 grants totaling $18,635,000.
It is a bold endeavor that aims to create the first new CUNY college in four decades, one that is quite different from its predecessors because it will require students to attend full time and only offer a limited number of majors.
The City University Board of Trustees of the City University of New York is expected to approve today the creation of the city’s first new community college in 40 years, with a preliminary home overlooking the scenic landmark Bryant Park in midtown.
