September 17, 2012 | Student Event
Students interested in representing the student body as a member of the student government may participate in the upcoming Student Government Association of The New Community College at CUNY (SGA-NCC) Senator selection process. During the LABSS courses on September 19-24, Student Success Advocates will ask all candidates interested in becoming a senator to deliver a one-minute speech to their LABSS cohort. Candidates should explain why they are best suited to represent the NCC student body as a student leader.
After listening to the speeches of all nominated candidates, each cohort will vote for the candidates from their cohort through a paper ballot executed during the LABSS class. The two candidates with the most votes will be selected to represent that cohort. There will ultimately be six candidates from each House (two candidates from each cohort). During the Common Hour on Thursday, September 27, each House will vote on the six selected candidates. The two candidates with the most votes will be elected Senators for that particular House; there will ultimately be eight Senators, two from each House.
