New York, NY: On September 23, eleven New Community College students attended MSNBC’s Education Nation: Student Town Hall at the main branch of the New York Public Library. Melissa Harris-Perry moderated a panel of distinguished educators to engage high school and college students in a solutions-focused conversation about the state of education in America. The New Community College was the only New York City higher education institution represented in the audience. First-year student Richard Persaud asked the panel about how to incorporate more creative strategies in curriculum development. The Town Hall provided NCC students a valuable opportunity to participate in a public forum related to issues directly affecting them.
