Guttman Community College recently received recognition from The Democracy Commitment (TDC), a national initiative providing a platform for the development and expansion of community college programs, projects and curricula to engage students in civic learning and democratic practice across the country. Two Guttman Community programs were featured: Trending News Update, a forum for Guttman students to explore current national issues outside the classroom as part of an integrative learning experience, and Community Days, a two-day event tied to the first-year City Seminar course and centered on community service and experiential learning opportunities with a variety of New York City service partners.
The TDC’s goal is for every American community college graduate to have had an education in democracy.
