Good news for commuters! CUNY is expanding its Commuter Benefits Program for all University employees. The new program, administered by WageWorks, gives employees more and better ways to save.
The program, which began on Dec. 1, 2010, for community college employees, will go into effect for senior college employees in early spring 2011.
It covers virtually any transit system in the Tri-State area including the MTA, NYCT, LIRR, Metro-North, NJ Transit, PATH and NY Waterway, among others. No matter where you live and work, you’re covered. You can choose from a Commuter Card Unrestricted Plan, a stored value card loaded with your pretax and post-tax payroll deductions that works just like a credit card. Other options include a transit pass plan, a plan for Access-A-Ride and a Park-n-Ride plan for those who park at or near public transit on their way to work.
Those already enrolled in the current TransitBenefit Program will be automatically transferred to the new plan, called “Commuter Card-Unrestricted Plan.”
