In part 4 of 7 of “The Dreamer and the Doer –The Life and Work of Fiorello H. La Guardia” produced by the La Guardia and Wagner archives, New York City’s La Guardia Airport was named after Mayor Fiorello H. La Guardia in recognition of his lifelong support for aviation. He learned to fly only a dozen years after the Wright Brothers made motorized flight a reality, and in World War One he flew bombing missions for the U.S. Army.
