Bronx Community College Geospatial Center of the CUNY CREST Institute Awarded $900,000 by the NSF

The Bronx Community College Geospatial Center of the CUNY CREST Institute (BGCCCI), was awarded a $900,000 National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education (NSF-ATE) grant to expand educational pathways leading to geospatial technology careers. This state-of-the art facility aims to provide educational and research opportunities for BCC undergraduates, faculty and staff, with an emphasis on training, through workshops and seminars. “BGCCCI has a large reservoir of satellite data and suite of industry standard software (acquired through grants) which is constantly being used by its collaborators, interns and research students for designing applications aimed at solving real-world problems related to the natural and human environment,’ said Dr. Sunil Bhaskaran, founding director of the BGCCCI and Bronx Community College professor.
