Most college students relax and recharge during Spring Break, but Service Corps members give back! Take a look at the projects Service Corps members have participated in during break:
NYC Department of Parks – Clean-up Project
On Monday, April 14, Service Corps members helped to revitalize the South Beach area, which is still recovering from damage from Hurricane Sandy, through a large scale clean-up project.
Food Bank of NYC – Repack in Hunts Point Project
On Tuesday, April 15, Service Corps members at Food Bank’s Hunts Point warehouse helped staff to sort and repack 7,649 lbs of food that will be shipped to food pantries and community kitchens across the five boroughs.
New Alternatives for Children Book Fair
On Wednesday, April 16, Service Corps members supported the NAC Book Fair! The event included book distribution (to the medically fragile children and families that NAC serves), Read Aloud, arts and crafts, and other educational and recreational activities.
Center for Court Innovation – Brownsville Community Justice Center Service Project
On Thursday, April 17, Service Corps members helped to revitalize Belmont Avenue in Brownsville. This project included a clean-up, graffiti removal, community survey, and other tasks.
Queens Library – Rockaways Outreach Project
On Monday, April 21, Service Corps members will participate in an outreach project in the Rockaways to let students know about the Job & Business Academy’s expanded services, including disaster preparedness and resiliency.
