Kingsborough College Discovery student Andre Doeman was selected to be a NUFP (NASPA Undergraduate Fellowship Program) fellow. His mentor for this fellowship is Dean Paulette Dalpes.  Along with developing his leadership skills, the fellowship grants Andre attendance at the national conference and offers him the opportunity to network with students and administrators from across the country. NASPA is the leading association for advancement, health and sustainability of the student affairs profession.

The New York State Board of Regents has appointed Hunter College Student and former CUNY Coalition for Students with Disabilities (CCSD) Chair Luis Gutierrez to a 3-year term as a member of the New York State Independent Living Council (NYSILC).  http://www.nysilc.org/what_nysilc.htm Among other things, NYSILC is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the 3-year Statewide Plan for Independent Living (SPIL), which is crucial to New York State because it is through the SPIL that ACCES-VR (formerly VESID) receives its federal funding through the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA).  Notably, it was federal RSA funds that sustained CUNY LEADS from 2007-2010.
