Dave Schwittek, a College Laboratory Technician in the Art Department at Lehman College, is the winner of the Sustainable CUNY Video Contest. The contest was designed to raise awareness around simple behavioral changes that can have a tremendous impact on energy usage and energy savings. Schwittek was awarded the first place prize by University Director of Sustainability Tria Case and CUNY Deputy Chief Operating Officer Ron Spalter at Sustainable CUNY’s Energy Education Day. The event was held at the Borough of Manhattan Community College’s new Fiterman Hall and geared to a CUNY audience that included energy engineers, administration supers, Chief Financial Officers, Associate Vice Presidents for Facilities Management and other administrators from CUNY’s 24 institutions. The Energy Education Presentations focused on how CUNY campuses can reduce their peak demand and peak load usage through shifting and shedding loads, innovative lighting and controls as well as the curtailment of consumption. Each campus was presented with energy profiles detailing usage as well as information on new tools that can assist in reducing energy along with opportunities for future capital investment. ‘1 Degree, 1 World, Make a Difference’
