Lehman College is the first of seven CUNY senior colleges to complete a project which received $26,000 under Sustainable CUNY Conserves’ $1million revolving loan fund, the Sustainable Investment Fund (SIF). The project, which replaced fluorescent lighting with LED lighting throughout Lehman College’s Fine Arts Building, is estimated to save $9,000 per year. Payback for the project, initially estimated to be almost five years, has been revised down to just two years, after the energy savings from the new technology became apparent.
