Second Round of Sustainability Investment Funds Opens

June 19, 2014 | Campus Sustainability News

Sustainable CUNY Conserves is now accepting applications for the second round of Sustainable Investment Funds (SIF). In 2013 Sustainable CUNY awarded over $$413,000 from SIF, a revolving fund, to support 11 projects on seven campuses. The winning projects in 2013 were selected on criteria that included a short-payback period (5-years or less) and the ability for rapid implementation, and ranged from lighting and lighting control upgrades to steam trap maintenance, to pilot programs testing newer technologies with wider potential application at CUNY. Collectively, these energy savings projects are projected by the campuses to save over $585,000 annually. Each college made a contribution of approximately 30% toward the costs of their projects, either through matching funds or in-house labor for installation. The deadline for submitting the SIF 2014 application will be July 17, 2014. Awards are expected to be announced in late summer. The Finance/Administrative Vice Presidents on each campus have been notified of this opportunity. Please direct any questions to cuny.conserves@cuny.edu
