December 13, 2007 | Things to Do
CALLING ALL VETERANS, VETERAN ORGANIZATIONS, FAMILIES AND SUPPORTERS…
WE NEED YOU!
Please join us at a Press Conference on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM in front of City Hall as Veterans will join Councilmember Tony Avella and speak out against the lack of hearings for Intro’s. 446 & 447.
Councilman Avella has sent a Sponsor’s Privilege request (a rarely used mechanism available to legislation sponsor’s to force an issue before a Committee if it has been pending before the Committee for more than 60 days) concerning Intro’s. 446 & 447 to Speaker Quinn and Council member Leroy Comrie, chair of the Consumer Affairs Committee. Both bill have been pending before the Consumer Affairs Committee since September 27, 2006!
Intro. 446 returns permits taken from companies that went to the aid of veterans while Intro. 447 lifts the illegal cap on vending permits for veterans. More Info here:

Veterans are needed to attend and pack the front of City Hall for about an hour to stand with CM Avella and show our disappointment with Speaker Quinn and CM Comrie regarding the lack of a hearing for these bills.
This is an important opportunity for ALL Veterans and supporters in the five boroughs to unite and show our strength! Vets Vote!
