Summary:

The Account Manager – Sales leads business development and account management activities at the Upper Manhattan Workforce1 Career Center.  This position is responsible for building and sustaining relationships with large businesses in targeted industries by selling NYC Business Solutions’ suite of services designed to aid employers in the hiring and training of their workforce. Having met with success with a range of employers in entry level jobs, the center is increasingly focused on developing job opportunities in higher wage occupations. This position is part of an outcomes focused NYC Business Solutions network and therefore the Account Manager, Sales must be team-oriented, problem-solving, professionally-driven and highly-motivated to: 1) generate and maintain a consistently high number of satisfied employers; and 2) work with the Business Services Manager to ensure the team will match the right candidates to all job openings. Relevant and up-to-date knowledge of the NYC job market, excellent research skills and proven sales ability is essential for this position.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Researches large employers with hiring needs suited to the wide range of skills and interests of a large volume of job seekers;
  • Develops necessary occupational and sector-based business intelligence designed to position the center as a primary hiring and/or incumbent training option for each employer;
  • Maintains and consistently refines the center’s quarterly business development plan which outlines, by sector and occupation, the prospective large employers targeted for sales; the specific value-proposition to be sold to sector employers; the number of positions to be opened by each employer; and the status of progress in closing hiring deals;
  • Identifies and engages key employer hiring personnel and developing appropriate pitches and strategies for establishing strong hiring relationships designed to penetrate varying levels of job openings offered by each employer with a growing proportion of high wage occupations;
  • Markets the NYC Business Solutions suite of services to large employers in New York City incorporating all value-added services offered by NYC Business Solutions and assisting in the development and creation of employer collateral to be used in the sales and marketing process;
  • Represents NYC Business Solutions and Seedco in respective community and government organizations such as the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, various local Community Boards, Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone, and local Business Improvement Districts;
  • Works collaboratively with NYC Business Solutions management at the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) and staff at other career centers to share best practices to grow the overall aptitude, success and reach of the brand and its direct sales staff;
  • Maintains an appropriate and established incremental opportunity employer pipeline to achieve sales goals;
  • Contributes new ideas for achieving and exceeding targets;
  • Shares secured job order information with the team; training them on the specific nuances of each employer seeking to interview candidates;
  • Coordinates with Business Services Manager to plan bi-annual Employer Appreciation Events;
  • Complying with administrative responsibilities including tracking all business development activities daily and weekly

Qualifications –

Education and Related Work Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree required, preferably in Business, Sales and/or marketing or related field;
  • At least 3 years of directly related experience required with a proven track record of sales experience;

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Must possess extensive knowledge of local labor market trends
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required – must have the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills are essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in a team-based work environment;
  • Must be a driven, self-motivated, outcomes-oriented individual with ability to effectively work with fulfillment and Center management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, target oriented environment
  • Existing contacts within businesses and experience presenting to business/industry preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
