General Information and Tuition for CUNY Graduate Programs
The Queens College Graduate School of Library and Information Studies (GSLIS) offers an American Library Association accredited Master of Library Science degree (36 credits), the only publicly supported program of its kind in the New York metropolitan area. Students can choose between the School Library Media program and the General program. The General program can be tailored towards such specializations as archives and records management, academic and public librarianship.

Additionally, the School offers three distinct certificates. The program leading to the 30-credit Certificate in Post-Master's Studies in Librarianship is designed for those holding the M.L.S degree who wish to update/improve their competencies. Two 12-credit certificates - Archives and Records Management, and Children and Young Adult Services in the Public Library - provide opportunities to specialize while pursuing the M.L.S degree or as a post-master's effort.

The GSLIS prepares library/information service professionals to serve in a full range of professional positions in the for-profit and non-profit sectors, including government agencies, Fortune 500 companies, health related facilities, academic institutions and K-12 schools.

The curriculum anticipates and responds to the rapidly changing information environment by regular revisions and by incorporating new offerings. These are technology based and represent up-and-coming areas of the discipline. A wide array of internship opportunities is available for interested students.

Members of the faculty are well known scholars in their fields and share their knowledge and expertise in a supportive environment. The School offers extensive academic counseling and advisement, to help each student create an individualized course of study so that career goals and expectations can be met. Admission requirements include a B.A./B.S. degree with a 3.0 GPA.
