Dear Paisano:
One of the crucial components for the advancement of a community is, without a doubt, education. An educated community is dynamic and involved, and it enriches the society of which it is a part both socially and culturally.
The number of Mexicans living in New York is increasing, while their influence is growing. Nevertheless, in order for them to advance more quickly in this society, our community needs the tools that will enable it to move ahead and become a harmonious part of the great city of New York.
Today we present, in conjunction with the City University of New York (CUNY), the website "¡Sí, Se Puede! - Opportunities for the Mexican and Mexican-American Community at CUNY". The aim of this site is primarily to serve as a source of information about the educational options and entry procedures to be followed by all those interested in continuing their education at any of the institutions of CUNY 's vast educational system.
The information on this site is a key to your future, one that can open doors for you to a quality higher education. This, in turn, will give you greater opportunities to improve your life and that of your family.
Let me take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge CUNY's enormous effort and social sensitivity and that of its great team, headed by Chancellor Mathew Goldstein and Vice Chancellor Jay Hershenson. They have opened the doors of this institution to New York ís Mexican community. We can say that Mexicans in New York have found a strong ally in CUNY.
Paisano, take advantage of the information contained in this website. Come to the Mexican Consulate in New York and go to the various schools of the City University of New York system and remember that, with CUNY, you can do it!
