Shuttle Service New Eases Lehman Commute

Lehman College students are seen here climbing on board the new free shuttle service that is now running between the campus and subway stations in the Wakefield section of the Bronx, bordering Mount Vernon. These are major transit points for students traveling by bus from Westchester County.

Shuttle bus
The daytime shuttle is running initially from Monday to Thursday, also stopping at three Metro North stations on the Harlem line, where it picks up other students bound from Westchester.

Plans call for a second shuttle vehicle to begin a scheduled run later in the semester, similarly serving the Baychester area of the Bronx, which borders Pelham. The shuttle will eventually expand service into the evening hours. As the attractive vans pass through various neighborhoods, an imprinted message also helps publicize the College’s toll-free number (1-877-lehman-1).
