Malave Appointed
Top Budget Officer
Noting his long CUNY service, Chancellor Goldstein said he was especially pleased that he started his career at the University in 1983. Malave was a student at BMCC, where he was Student Government President. His B.A. is from the College of New Rochelle. In his new position, Malave will represent the University on all operating budget matters. His duties include management of CUNYs Budget, Treasury, Procurement, Internal Control, and Controllers offices. He will also oversee preparation of the Universitys annual financial statements and annual operating budget. He is also charged with managing CUNYs investment portfolio. At the Boards March meeting, Malave fondly recalled his first job as an Office of Admissions Services advisor: During those 18 months at OAS, I began to appreciate the special role CUNY plays in the lives of so many New Yorkers. I had the opportunity to visit many New York City high schools to instill the value of higher education in 16-year- old high school juniors, as well as serving as an advisor to incoming students. It was a very rewarding position. |
