with Mattisse/Picasso About 500 CUNY faculty and staff members
attended a special viewing of the Museum of Modern Art's Matisse/ Picasso
exhibit in Long Island City May 4 to honor the artists, art historians
and art critics associated with the University.
Kate Levin, who is on leave from her professorial duties at City College while serving as New York City's Commissioner of Cultural Affairs, also spoke at the reception on the importance of culture to the city. She had been an assistant professor of English at City College since 1997 and associate director of its Simon H. Rifkind Center for the Humanities before accepting her current appointment from Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The president of several CUNY colleges attended the viewing and reception, as well as alumni and members of the Chancellor's Business Leadership Council. |
