I am honored to lead the expansion of ASAP at New York City College of Technology (City Tech). I have worked in higher education since I was a student myself, always working to guide students in ways that helped them attain their goals. In previous positions there were always many limitations to the support and assistance I could provide the students who came through my offices. With ASAP, however, my office is able to provide an unparalleled level of support to students working toward an associate degree in order to significantly enhance their college experience. I am excited to guide City Tech’s ASAP Program to serve as an extension of the college and its many resources, engaging students both in and out of the classroom, assisting students with goal setting, and preparing students for further education and/or careers in some of the most sought-after industry sectors.
City Tech’s unique emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education allows me to draw upon over fifteen years of higher education experience, including as an Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at Polytechnic University, Director of Academic Advisement at Queensborough Community College, and Associate Director of First Year Programs at Bronx Community College. In all these positions I had the opportunity to grow the programs I led by implementing high-impact practices to increase student engagement and success. Building a team of dedicated advisors and support staff brings me joy as I see the connections they make with students, staff, and faculty. I look forward to seeing the roots ASAP has started to put down at City Tech deepen and am grateful for the opportunity to nourish the program, students, and staff as they grow and develop.
