After coming to America from China in 2011, I enrolled at Queensborough in the fall of 2013. I took English as a second language classes in the CLIP program and was accepted into the ASAP program after one-year of study. My advisor, Ms. Danielle Izzo, guided me from entry to graduation. Since joining ASAP, I was a Phi Theta Kappa/USA Today All-New York Scholar, and worked with the Center of Materials Science and Sustainability at Boise State University, conducting research under Dr. Paul Sideris in Chemistry. A recent award will allow me to join Boston University over summer 2016 and participate in chemistry research. In the fall 2016 semester, I’ve been offered the Institute for STEM Education Scholarship, and will receive a student mentor at Stony Brook as part of this award. Ultimately, I want to apply to a Ph.D program.
